Christmas-y Update!

It’s only a Christmas-y update because it’s still only Dec 23rd. However, there’s a lot of catching up to be done!

The first weekend of December we set out to get our Christmas tree. Despite unsuccessful attempts at going to a u-cut place, we ended up going to Grobe Nursery – highly recommended indeed as their trees are all stored inside – away from the elements (of course this year, it didn’t matter, but last year we took Luke on his first tree selection trip in a blizzard).

Luke’s been fantastic with the Christmas tree this year!! He asks for the “ights” to be turned on every night 🙂

Then, this past Sunday we had the Crestwicke nativity play. Luke was a sheep – but ended up being more of a playful lamb.

We’ll have a video soon – but unfortunately we’re in need of a certain cable first!

The long and short of it is, lambs don’t sit still. Neither do donkeys. And Mary can be territorial about baby Jesus when donkeys want to play with her son 🙂

We also got to visit with our friends the Lams. It was great to see them! Luke loved playing chase … it’s a favourite game of his – regardless of whether or not anyone’s chasing him, or there’s anyone to chase!

A brief aside on Luke. Now that he’s mastered his sorting blocks puzzle box – he’s taken to stacking the pieces! Quite the impressive monument if I do say so myself!

And then there was tonight. Our annual pre-Christmas Eve tradition. The Making of the Bread 🙂

For those that don’t know, we have an Ulster Fry on Christmas Eve. A very healthy combination of fried potato farls, fried soda farls, eggs, bacon, sausage, and beans. This year the beans are a “proper” recipe of Boston Baked Beans. Here’s the preview of tomorrow’s calorie-free yumminess:

(To those that want to see one – this is a “belly picture” of me – today I’m 29 weeks pregnant!

Soda bread on the left, potato bread on the right

I wasn’t pre-planning properly, so I had to transfer the beans out of our bean pot to cool for overnight. They’ll be back in the pot in the morning:

Well that’s all for today! We’re beat! Luke’s new room is finally all done! There will be pictures very soon – but he should see it first!

Not quite Tiger Merry Christmas!
