Luke’s 4 month appointment

I can’t believe he’s 4 months 😦 Our little guy is getting so grown up!

He had his shots today – I think he knew what was going on (that plus he woke up after just having fallen asleep). He cried most of the hour we were there 😦 He was so brave for his first one – his eyes filled up with tears and he kinda whimpered. But when needle number two went in he went red (think the incredible Hulk turning green – it kinda spread from the top of his head to his toes) – then he started to cry and cry and cry. At least vaccinations in Canada aren’t as bad as they are in the US. Apparently in the US they babies can have like 7 needles (Americans – please correct me if I’m wrong). But in Canada they get one 5-in-1 and one other one. Just the same – it doesn’t make it any easier. But he’s had his Tempra and is now giggling on the sofa with his Daddy.

Here’s the stats from today’s appointment:

Weight – 15 lbs, 15 oz – 73rd percentile

Height – 26 inches – 85th percentile

Head Circumference – 45 cm (17.7 inches) – off the charts (he’s got a big melon!)

Combined Weight for Length – 30th percentile – So he’s not super fat! Just big all over!

And now for a picture of the not-so-wee man. It’s when we were checking to see if his teeth were coming in. He’s constantly chewing on everything and was flushed the last two days.We can see them (but not here) in his gums so I had Dr. MacPherson check to see if he is teething – but apparently not yet.

Poor Luke! I hate it when they cry. I think the most shots at any one appt in the U.S. is 6 at the 6 month (maybe only 5 though). We are doing an alternate schedule, so right now we are going every month and getting 2 vaccines and will make up some at a later point that we are temporarily skipping. Lena did great at her shot this week. She had an oral and only one stick. She only cried for like a second and then was smiling at the nurses! We have our full appointment next week-I can’ wait to get Lena’s stats. Luke sure does have a big head!
