Bad Mummy!

Wow! I can’t believe I neglected to post about the most exciting thing ever!

For Mothers’ Day, Luke gave me a card (he’s so smart – he can write and spell and everything!) – but the best treat of all – he started sleeping through the night! STTN (sleeping-through-the-night for non-parents of infants) makes all the difference in the world. We especially noticed that last night when for the first time in almost a month he woke up at 3:00am looking for a clean diaper and snack and a cuddle. I really think it was the first and the last things there and he hardly ate at all (the nice thing about breastfeeding is I don’t waste formula in the middle of the night for a brief snack).

Of course, STTN has come at a cost. The little guy hardly naps any more – not that he ever did. Though today, since he had such a broken up sleep and then was up and ready to play at 7:30 he’s had a nice 2 hr (and counting) nap this afternoon. Babies at this age should be having 2-3 naps a day for about 5 hours total and sleep 10 hours at night. He does the 10 hours at night – he goes to sleep between 9 and 9:30, sleeps til 7-8 – sometimes goes back to sleep for an hour, but til today the longest he’s slept after he’s up is an hour! Craziness I must say!

Tim’s feeding Luke a bottle right now and Luke’s taking it! Hallelujah! He’s been turning down bottles for the last two weeks. I’ve been so stressed worrying about whether he’ll ever let me be away from him for longer than a couple hours (right now it’s even less time as he’s in the middle of another growth spurt and eating every 1-2.5 hours).

Other than that he’s the perfect little guy – very good on his legs (being held up of course!) and enjoying his exersaucer – though he doesn’t quite know what to do with everything.
