Our Trip to Vancouver

I know I know, this is long overdue – given we got back from Vancouver on Tuesday evening, but things have been busy lately. We took possession of our house on Wednesday and since then Tim’s been busy moving all our stuff from the storage locker to the garage of our place and I’ve been cleaning. He’s also been getting ready for preaching this morning and he’s been sick all week! Luke too had his vaccinations this week at his 2 month appointment – he’s 12 lbs 5.5. oz and 23.6 inches long! A huge increase!! He caught a bit of a cold after the vaccinations but is finally doing better.

But I meant to write about our trip out West. We arrived Monday, April 21. After picking up our rental car, we headed out for a late lunch in our old neighbourhood – at the Sushi Bar on 4th. It was so so so good! We picked up Luke’s playpen for the week and then headed down to Richmond where we were to be staying at my Grandma’s for the time we were there. For dinner we went to the White Spot and had our first taste of dining with a screaming baby – not so fun for any of us! (including the other diners even though we ate as fast as we could) While we were there (before the tears started) Luke’s Great-Uncle Greig stopped by for a visit:

The next morning, we went over to Great-Grandma Houston’s place for a first look at her first great-grandchild! (Luke’s all about being the first – first child, grandchild on both sides, and great-grandchild on my side!)

That day we also went to Great-Auntie Penny and Great-Uncle Wayman’s house for dinner with Great-Grandma Sheppard and Great-Grandpa and Great-Grandma Houston (lots of Greats here, but oh well!) It would appear I didn’t take any photos that trip, but I think we took some videos. We’ll hopefully post those at some point, but probably not til we’re in our new place!

We stopped by at CBS on Wednesday morning to meet a lot of lovely ladies and also his cousin Justin who was helping in the nursery (sorry … mis-type – that would be First-Cousin-Once-Removed Justin). On Wednesday night we went to Family Night to meet the Ebenezer family.

All this visiting (not surprisingly) left Luke very tired. Here he is sparked out in front of the fireplace at Great-Grandma Sheppard’s house:

On Thursday, Great-Great Auntie Jessie stopped by for a visit with her first Great-Great-Nephew:

On Friday, Tim, Luke, Great-Grandma and I went down to Granville Island. It’s hard to imagine we took it so for granted while we lived in the area, but we have many many fond memories of picking up meat for a BBQ, and fruit for eating all summer long. Why-oh-why did we ever leave?

On Friday evening, we went to the Masing’s house in Richmond – Rose and Luke really hit it off! She is the first non-family member to be able to get Luke to calm down! Quite a feat I must say!

On Saturday, Luke had a Baby Shower at the church. While I really enjoyed seeing all the ladies, Luke’s introvert tendencies were beginning to show. He does like people, but by this point, he’d met tonnes and tonnes of new people, so by Saturday he was slightly less than thrilled. Unfortunately, when Tim was changing him in the Parlour, he demonstrated his tremendous ability to fill a diaper – only there was no diaper on at the time. Oh well – it’s got to happen at some point!

On Saturday night, we went to Great-Uncle Greig and Great-Auntie Laurel’s place where
he demonstrated his superior ability to exercise his lungs when overstimulated, but only after some serious laughing/smiling sessions beforehand!

While in Vancouver, we used Great-Grandma’s kitchen sink as a bathtub. I don’t know what Luke thought of it, but we thought it looked quite cute:

Sunday involved a trip to Ebenezer for church and then off to the Grad Tea @ Regent and then to Allison (First-Cousin-Once-Removed)’s Wedding shower. A very busy day indeed!

Monday was the day we’d been waiting for when Tim finally graduated! He’s posted some pictures already, so here’s a few more:

And lastly, Tuesday morning we left, but here’s a shot of Luke and his Great-Grandma:

All in all it was a wonderful trip. We miss Vancouver so much!!!
