An exciting development!

Yesterday we had two exciting developments with the little guy. First of all, at the breastfeeding group I go to where Luke gets weighed weekly, we found out he’s up to 9 lbs 11 oz!! Almost 3 pounds since he was born! Who says breastfed babies don’t gain as fast!! I beg to differ! However, he’s probably a little less – given I’d just fed him and (nerd that I am – and also I’m sad to see him getting so big!) weighed his diaper when we got home (he is weighed naked, but he HAD been fed) – his diaper weighed a 1/4 pound (4 oz). But he is a little pudgie fellow now – getting closer to the “average” weight for his age!

The second exciting development was as we sat down for dinner. Luke was lying in his playard under his blanket and I noticed he looked different. He’s starting to roll over! Now it is only from his back to his side – but that’s still very impressive. Apparently this doesn’t normally happen until a baby is 4 to 6 months (with rolling fully functional closer to 6 months) As “first time parents” we felt obligated to take a million photos – but here’s a couple of him looking both proud and quite confused!

All that meant a very exhausting day for Luke. Here he is at the end of the day with Grandpa. I wish we had the audio for it – every time he breathed in and out he had a sad/cute sounding little sigh!

I thought Irish kids would have been a little slower to develop. Well done little guy.

We are thinking the Sunday night after the graduation tea thing at Regent – it will be early enough for us parents to eat and dash!
