Luke meets his new cousin Chelsea!
So last week my niece decided to give her Daddy the best Father’s Day pressent ever – she was born!
Luke was very excited about having his first cousin ever:

She’s so tiny – it’s hard to imagine that Luke was that size 16 months ago:

Proud Auntie:

Today we went over to their place to see them again. Luke was a little unsure about this mommy-stealer:

Chelsea was a little unsure of Luke as well:

I love those faces babies make:

Luke decided he liked Chelsea too. He moves in for the kill:

And makes contact:

It was actually very very sweet. He wouldn’t let me hold her up against my shoulder – he wanted to be able to see her the whole time
Congratulations Nick and Yolandi!

Environmentally Conscious AND a soccer star!
Here are two recent videos of Luke. Despite the fact that we live in one of the greenest cities ever (yes, on par with Vancouver!!), our son insists that all lights must be on. We’re also working on teaching him how to recycle:
Luke and Tim now play sports (in the living room!!) after dinner every night. Afte ra few evenings of jsut picking up the ball and running with it, Luke has got the hang of dribbling – and not the way he’s been doing for the last several months!!
I’ve got some more posts that’ll be up in the next couple days!

Luke having fun!
Here are some more videos of our little monkey. In the first one, we started taping him just after he decided to stop saying “uh-oh” (his favourite word). But it’s still cute just the same:
Here’s Luke playing a game with Tim (who, while out of the shot, can still be heard – he hates this video – but I don’t care!!)
And last but not least, here’s Luke doing some “heavy reading”. We do have picture books – lots of them – and he loves to read eat look at them:

Luke on the Go!
Today when I was packing Luke grabbed his trike and started zipping around! Tim’s seen him do this before, but I never had!!
Walker’s may be banned here in Canada – but there are still baby toys that move!! He’s speedy!!

Crawling and “Walking”
Here are two recent videos. This first is of our little boy crawling “properly”. The second is of recent attempts by Tim and I to get Luke to walk:
Unfortunately we ran out of memory early in the second video

Luke’s First Birthday Party!
Can it be? Is our baby boy almost one? (27 hours til he is!)
Today we had Luke’s birthday party at my parents house.
First there was birthday crwon making:

Then Luke tucked into some food:

Speaking of which – here’s a look at the spread (sushi, spanakopitas, hummus & pitas, sandwiches, chips & dip, sausage rolls, meatballs, cheerios, layered nacho dip, cake, cupcakes, rice krispie squares):

Here’s Nick and Yolandi and Luke:

And Stephen, Jenn and Jake:

And the McRae clan:

Happy Birthday Luke:

So we made Luke more “cake-friendly” in his attire and hoped for a some serious cake smashing!
We were disappointed.

He look down right offended that there was cake on his hand and face.

And here are Luke and I opening one of his birthday cards:

It was a wonderfully special day. To those with whom we couldn’t celebrate, you were in our thoughts and we hope to see you soon!
We’ll post more as we approach our soppy moment of Luke turning one!

Final Vancouver Post
Oops! Looks like I forgot to post the final lot of pictures from our trip.
Luke and Gloria had a play date. They both like chewing on things:

On Saturday we went over to the Sheppard’s. Uncle Greig made pancakes – which Luke loved!! (he doesn’t like mine). And Peter and Luke had a great time playing with cars.

Great-Grandma taught Luke “Round and round the garden”. He’s a picture and two videos:

Last but not least, here’s a video I posted on Facebook earlier, but hadn’t yet posted here. Luke’s found a new game:

Our Trip to Vancouver pt. 2
Here are some more pictures from our trip!
Here’s Luke in his high chair @ (Great) Grandma’s house:

Here he is debating which distraction to play with next (the measuring cups were Grandma’s idea!! Nice one!)
“
“I’m too cool to give you a hug but let me pat you on the back!”

Auntie Jessie and Luke checking out a new truck:

Here’s Luke and his Great-Grandma and his seahorse from Ella:

I love this photo of my Grandpa and Luke!! Luke was staring at my fingers snapping over my head trying to distract him from the seahorse:

There’s one more round of photos to come!

More Christmas
Some more Christmas pictures!
Christmas starts on the 23rd by making the breads for the Ulster Fry on Christmas Eve

I make the bread while Luke watches!
This is the finished product

It started snowing on the 23rd at about 9pm. By bedtime the snow was really deep in our driveway so I started clearing the snow at midnight, I finished at 2am! I am so glad I did. We got up at 7am and more snow had fallen but it only took 40 minutes to clear and I could get to frying breakfast on time for Jen’s family arriving at 10.
Here is the breakfast cooked and ready to eat

so to Christmas morning. Luke got his own TV remote control

Then it was off to Grandma and Grandpa’s for Christmas day and dinner
Here are some pictures

On Boxing day Luke played on his new trike

He helped put together his new garage, which came from Santa

I thought Santa had elves to do this sort of thing……not in Canada it seems or maybe economic hardship has hit the north pole as well and some elves have been laid off from work
