Luke’s First Halloween
It has come and gone and it’s been a busy day. Over lunch we went to a Halloween party with other babies from the OEYC. It was great to see all the babies – it’s been 3 months! They’ve grown up so much. For starters – everyone’s sitting at least – crawling at best! Yikes! Gone are the days when everyone gets together and the babies (other than Luke) nap and moms chat.
For Halloween we’d found an adorable dragon costume at Carters in the States this summer (despite what some may think – those “sleepers” were not really his costume).
Front view:
Back view (and reaching out to Jack (O Lantern)
Baby parties are fun:
Luke and Xavier (same birthday). (FYI: Luke has found out that Travis’ house has a cleaning fan – NB: it’s not on)
Getting into position for the babies’ portrait (there are other babies – but they can crawl)
Can you guess where the ceiling fan is?
Luke’s The Man! Sophia on one side, Rachel on the other!
My poor little dragon’s all out of steam:
“Daddy, why is everyone looking silly today?”
“Aren’t I cute?”
All in all it was a good day. Luke’s getting so big and so cute. He did really well at the party! He “played” with the other babies (read: touched faces, let Jack chew his fingers, tried to unzip Rachel’s costume) and “shared” his cube toy (read: gave me a sad face when other baby’s wanted to play with it but was content to be cuddled instead). And during the photo taking, while he didn’t smile much, he didn’t fuss at all!!

Big Day Today!
Luke has been starting new things like crazy lately!!
Last weekend (out of nowhere – no practicing, etc) he started clapping!
This weekend has been exciting too – there’s something about Sundays!
We were over at friends this afternoon and he started babbling like mad! bababamamamamabamamabamabama – all Bs and Ms and As!! Hurray!
But before this exciting development, at church this morning he was standing leaning against my legs and he righted himself and was standing up all by himself (no support at all)! He did this lots throughout the day!! He’s got great balance!
AND since Wednesday he’s been eating … it’s been a lot of crackers and cheerios and puffs. But we’re working on expanding the diet!
Our baby boy is growing up! Oh – and he’s 29 inches tall and 19.8 lbs (9 kg exact)! Fallen off of his curves somewhat – but no wonder – given the amount of time he spends bouncing up and down in his Jolly Jumper!

New Night-wear
I (Tim) was sent out at the weekend with the task of buying Luke some new “warmer” night time clothing. Well Jen laughed at what I brought back – I thought it was fairly cool/cute – so let the public decide – cool or cute or stupid or all three
Here is number 1 (and probably the most sensible) – its a bear suit
Here is number 2 – its monkey PJs
So number three kind of starts the verging on Halloween wear – but no matter! – its a dog suit
Even Luke knows he looks cool!
So here is the last one – I call this one the chicken look
How cool do I look dad?
answer – very cool!

So cute!
Luke discovered his hands a long time ago, but despite all our patty cakes and “clap hands clap hands clap-clap-clap hands” rhyming with him, he always tensing up and balling his hands into fists when I try to clap his hands for him.
Yesterday he got all excited and clapped his hands together – I wasn’t sure if it was a fluke until we were at church this morning and he kept clapping and clapping. When we got home this afternoon I took a video of him.
He was so proud of himself!
On a different topic – here’s a picture of Luke’s two little teeth:
And a closeup
(No babies were harmed in the taking of this photo. Luke was tired and no tears were involved – that’s his scrunchy tired face!)

A New Toy
Today we had house viewings – yes we are trying to sell a house at the time of the biggest financial crisis in history and yes if you agree your house for sale no one can get a mortgage – I digress. So we had to leave the house for the morning. We went to Babies R Us and had a look around to pass the time. We decided to get Luke a new toy. He is starting to want to get on the move. To help him we bought this inflatable crawl helper. Its basically a fancy inflatable ball.
Luke gets the toy for the first time
Its fun this toy!
Ok so lets crawl over it
This toy cracks me up!

Happy Thanksgiving!
Today is Thanksgiving in Canada (its at the end of November in the States, but Canada celebrates on the second Monday in October). Yesterday we went out for Thanksgiving turkey at Jen’s parents house. We also went to the pumpkin fields just outside Georgetown to get a few pumpkins for eating and carving.
Here is Luke all dressed for dinner and in his car seat
Luke has some turkey and Brussels sprouts
interestingly he preferred sprouts to turkey. Although all this turkey makes a boy tired – too much tryptophan!
so Luke had to go out for a walk with uncle Nick
That walk made a bit of room for some chips!
Today we went to the pumpkin fields. Luke and his mum select a pumpkin
Luke gets a closer look
A hard earned rest
Happy thanksgiving everyone!

It’s been a while!
I’m sorry – I got on a roll for posting and then I stopped – my bad. Last weekend was a particular treat as Luke decided he was going to teeth. Correction: he popped two teeth! In a row! So all last week (not this past week but the week before) he was generally fussy and unhappy. Last weekend he stopped sleeping – we slept in shifts. It brought back (not so) fond memories of the newborn stage. He wasn’t too difficult. He just was unhappy, and generally fussy (I’d imagined screaming for hours on end – instead it was general whimpering and crying for “no reason”.
But hurray! On October 1st up popped tooth #1 (pre sleeping strike), then this past Monday, up popped tooth #2. I’ve been trying to take a picture but it’s not been successful at all:
Now for a fun shot of Luke in the tub:
One of Luke doing a James Bond impersonation:
And here’s a final picture of Luke in a wet t-shirt contest:
Oh yes – and a video of Luke and his dummy:

Stand up Chuck!
Videos have been doing the rounds this election season. Most of them have been of Palin, whom the media think is some incompetent, stupid, brain dead woman. The Telegraph have compiled a list of the top gaffs on the campaign trail. Here they are. Interesting to note not one of them is Palin. Take from that what you will.
The number one video is Joe Biden telling a man in a wheel chair to stand up! My good buddy Chuck, stand up Chuck! I wish the earth opened for him it was so cringe worthy!

Videos of Luke
Sorry – I went a little video happy this afternoon. It would appear the teeth are waiting – either that or Luke’s just not phased by them anymore. He was having a great afternoon! And he ate most of 1/2 a farley’s cookie & 4 spoons of cereal – we’re getting there!
The first video is after he ate most of his cookie – the toast was there, but he wasn’t so keen on it today:
This next video I thought was really cute – though I was trying to not let him see me – he tends to blankly stare at the camera when he sees is – he was “talking”/shrieking to himself after eating:
Here he is very happy about his cookie – sorry for the annoying voice – don’t know who it is!
Here is Luke (aka superman – bib’s always on right now – but it is more effective the other way around – note that a couple seconds in a big stream of dribble comes out – just after shake one)
And last but not least – check out the progress he’s made in the Jolly Jumper!
And lastly, some pictures – of our poor little boy suffering from his teeth (jokes!)
